Online Blackjack Betting Rules

Online blackjack is the most popular casino card game in the world. However, most players that play blackjack usually bet the same amount every hand and continue this cycle until they decide they have either won enough or lose all their money at the table.

The standard denominations for casino chips are:

white chips = $1

red chips = $5

Placing a Bet

It is best to first stack the amount of chips you want to bet in front of you and then place the total amount at once in the betting circle. Although most casinos will pay out right in half dollars, some will round down to the nearest dollar.

Betting Rules

This is the initial bet. Kick-start your game play by placing an ante bet which has to be at least $5 according to the standard table limits which may vary from casino to casino. The first set of initial two cards are dealt to you only after you place your bet.

Winning And Losing Rules

There will always be a minimum bet and a maximum bet for the table. The maximum bet is normally ten to twenty times the minimum bet, meaning that a table with a $5 minimum would have a $50 to $100 maximum. Each player decides how much to bet on a hand before the deal.

Each hand will result in one of the following events for the player:

Lose – the player’s bet is taken by the dealer.

Win – the player wins as much as he bet. If you bet $10, you win $10 from the dealer (plus you keep your original bet, of course.)

Blackjack (natural) – the player wins 1.5 times the bet. With a bet of $10, you keep your $10 and win a further $15 from the dealer.

Push – the hand is a draw. The player keeps his bet, neither winning nor losing money.

The average player makes online betting mistakes about 15% of the time, and mistakes can be expensive. Without a basic blackjack strategy, the average player will give the house a 1 to 2% advantage.
