How does a blackjack tournament work?
My local casino offers both monthly and weekly blackjack tournaments. Let say the entry fee is $20, does this mean that you would get $20 worth of chips or would your buy in start you out at something like $300 worth in chips ? Is the winner determined by who has the most money at the end of the tournament?
That’s what I thought. Thanks for your answers.

usually tournaments like this start you out with $1000 or $500 in chips and you play. I know that the ones in the casino I go to have the top 6 or 8 players of the first round and they all sit at a final table together and see who comes out on top.
normally you get 1000 – 1500 chips and the player from your table who has the most at the end of a predetermined number of hands goes to the semi-finals. They take the table winners from several tourny’s (or less if they have enough tables and people) and sit them down at 4-5 tables and the winners of those tables then go to the final table .
My local casino run 4-5 tourny’s in one day and takes all the table winners and groups them together. kind of a pain if you ask me cause I won my table a few times but then have to go home and come back 5-6 hours later to play the semi’s and (hopefully) the final table.
