Here are some generally believed Blackjack myths that can cost you big time.
They are debunked right here for you so if you ignore them and lose, well
can't say I didn't tell so you ok.

The aim of blackjack is to get as close to 21 as possible

Wrong: This is NOT the object of the game. The object is to beat the
dealer's hand. (Learn Basic Strategy if you want to lower the house odds)

Sometimes the best strategy is to sit stand depending on the total of your
hand and the dealer's up card. Many players lose their hand because they hit
their hands, when according to basic strategy they should stand and give the
dealer the cards that will make him bust.

Bad players cause you to lose (players who don't follow Basic Strategy)

That is of course wrong.

Other players have no effect on your winning or losing long term.

It can be proved mathematically that it is just as likely that this could
result in the entire table winning. By that I mean, stupid Blackjack play
can also help you win. It's just odds basically.

Always take insurance if you have a blackjack

Wrong. Insurance is the lamest and craziest bet in blackjack

To simply break even with an insurance bet, you would have to guess
correctly 1 in 3 times. That's pretty poor odds don't you think?


The dealer is HOT

Unless you are making a statement about the dealers' personal appearance
then this is again - wrong.

The dealer is simply following the house rules. It is your choices that
determine how successful you will be in that session.

People joining the game in the middle of a shoe, will cause you to lose.

That's crazy! They can also cause you to win as well. Yes they will change
the run of the cards but this can also be for the good of the table.

Uh Uh!! As always, the chance of you winning the next hand is independent of
what happened before with regards to the previous hand.

The deuce (2) is the most favorable card for the dealer

Nope. It just gives the dealer a bit room 'room to move' But if he gets a 10

Mathematically, players lose more when the dealers "up card" as is an Ace or
a 10.
